Ali Bruce: The ocean has shaped me from a sharp rock into a soft pebble. There’s a spot on the shore I go to when I need to feel lighter. I float in the waves with my ears in the water and the noise of the world becomes silent, the thoughts in my head are released for a moment. When I’m floating in the salt water I feel less pain in my body, it makes me feel small in a world that can feel overwhelmingly large. Watching the tide become high and the strength of the waves rolling in reminds me of strength without will, to be naturally powerful and guided by the moon. The oceans shows us that we’re all the same when we’re connected to the water and the sky.
