The eruption of Mount Saint Helens in 1980 was followed by multiple sightings of mysterious flying creatures in the area that were described by witnesses as winged ape-like beings with glowing eyes. Brian Canfield had a close encounter with something matching this description in 1994 while driving in Pierce county, Washington. In an interview with CR Roberts from The News Tribune, Canfield explained how the creature landed on the hood of his car and stood in the road watching him for several minutes before flying off into the night.
