David Rice: Our ocean is a bountiful resource for all living creatures. While it provides so much for us, overfishing can cause great harm. Overfishing empties the sea faster than fish can breed. Removing single species breaks the natural chain of predators and prey, harming the entire ocean environment. Additionally, many commercial fishing vessels use nets and trawling equipment which can be very harmful to the habitat. It is important for us to practice sustainable fishing to protect marine life, prevent habitat damage, and keep the ocean balanced. A healthy ocean leads to a healthy planet.
