Graham Franciose: The ocean gives us an enormous source of wonder and awe. We know so little of the underwater world that covers over 70% of our planet. There are so many magical things happening below the surface that most of us will never experience, like the way giant Sperm Whales sleep hanging vertically, suspended just below the surface, which was only discovered 22 years ago. Above the surface, another unbelievable phenomenon, the Albatross, which spends 85% of its life at sea, can also sleep while flying. Both of these animals utilize "unihemispheric slow-wave sleep," which allows one half of their brain to sleep while the other remains awake. Who knows what else will be discovered in years to come.
