Around Seattle, you can find storm drains stenciled with the words “Drains to Sound” and an image of a fish. I have always loved those stencils. They are a great example of how individual actions can make a small difference.
But really, honestly, although it would be great to turn this situation around through small interventions like storm drain stencils, the reality is that we live within a well-established industrial system that is almost impossible to stop.
So what do we owe the ocean? Vote for leaders who support environmental protection. Support organizations that push for change through the legal system. Contribute to associations, like PangeaSeed, that work to educate our communities.
