12 × 12 inch acrylic painting on canvas
Raymond Argumendo: When I was a child, my family and I took a trip to the beach where my mother taught me to respect the ocean and not go into the waves if they looked angry. Of course, I didn’t listen and jumped right in when the waves were crashing hard against the shore. Within moments, I was pulled under and slammed into the sand, feeling terrified and unsure if I would ever make it back to land. Thankfully, some strangers came to my rescue and helped pull me to safety. Ever since that day, I have respected the ocean and admired both its frightening power and its incredible beauty.
