Rick's was one of Seattle's most infamous strip clubs, operated by a crime family for decades. Its iconic neon sign stood as a Lake City landmark, instantly recognizable to generations of Seattle locals. I worked next door at the car wash for years, where the guys from Rick's brought their Lincoln Town Cars every week. They always tipped big, and as a kid I admired them while being equally intimidated. At sunset, the neon sign would come alive, I was mesmerized by its glow, a memory that inspired this painting.
