12 × 12 inch painting acrylic on wood panel

I was born in Mexico City and spent much of my childhood in Minatitlán, Veracruz, near the Coatzacoalcos River, before returning to Mexico City as a teenager. The river, which flows into the Gulf of Mexico, made water part of my early understanding of place and home. After settling in the Pacific Northwest, I found that connection again in Puget Sound and in the salmon and their long journeys through its waters. The fish in my work have become carriers of memory, migration, and endurance, linking the places that have shaped me. The ocean has taught me to understand home not as something fixed, but as places and experiences joined by currents. It reminds me that distance does not erase our origins and that the waters we live beside become part of who we are.
